Why all but one of my bikes are single speeds?

With time to kill in Seattle, Emily and I joined the Slow Bicycle Movement for a ride around Lake Union. I rode my Cross Check and Emily rode her new-to-us Vassago Bandersnatch to be subverted from riding the alpine near Durango, to commuting and chariot pulling around North Vancouver.

isn’t it nice.. my first week of work in Vancouver starts with British Columbia Day, a statutory holiday.  Not only will I have to adjust to a company where I’ll be working far fewer hours than I’ve become accustomed, but I get to start with a day off

Today is Emily’s birthday.

My cinnamon swirl french toast, topped with fresh blackberries, and KickAss coffee is good (all together now, awwwwwww), but does not compare to the little soirée that the city of Vancouver, along with China, threw last night over English Bay…
