Camp May
Camp May is a recreational area at an elevation of 9500 feet, located just beyond the Pajarito Ski Area. We have 3 large, primitive campsites reserved for GITA. Additionally, we have reserved the pavilion (at the entrance to the Camp May loop). The pavilion has a few picnic tables, and an extra large stone fireplace to provide warmth during post-ride festivities.
Directions
Camp May is approximately 20 minutes from downtown Los Alamos. Drive through Los Alamos on Trinity Drive (502). Turn Left on Diamond Road, cross Omega Bridge, turn left on Jemez Road, pass through new guard station following signs to Jemez Mountains. At the guard station you will turn around and you will now be heading west. Turn right on Camp May Road, and climb up to the unpaved Camp May Loop. Designated campsites will be marked with GITA 2006 signs.
