The bonus day! A trip to Bellingham to pick up Scott’s new road bike, ride Mt Galbraith and accept a generous offer for dinner with friends. We poked around online the night before and in standard Emily penny-pinching fashion, decided not to purchase the printable maps. I found a not-to-scale sketch with the road names and a dozen trails to provide some context for the ride.
Day 3 of the three day weekend and we finally found sunshiny sparkly riding. We also found a map kisok and made our own portable, zoomable, orientable map.

The first single track offered up cedar skinnies on Cedar Dust. Not that there was a trail sign, it was just the second single track on the left. Step up

and keep it rolling.

rolling rolling rolling

keep those big wheels rolling

A day with no schedule just following the single track to more single track and then some more single track and seeing where it leads. We quickly gave up trying to determine where we were as there were exactly 3 trails with trail signs, justifying my decision not to purchase the map. A joy of riding in the US on a US workday was evident as we climbed smooth single up table tops and cornered banked berms. But you can only ride the trail the wrong way until it’s time to turn around. :P wheeeeeeeeeee
trying to make the small bikes FLY.
