I have finally partaken in yet another Canadian rite of passage…
Saturday’s breakfast courtesy of Tim Hortons.
my friend, Day F, shared an amusing story re:Tim Hortons on FB: “I was coming back from the states once, and the officer asked me the reason I was in Canada… I replied “Tim Horton’s”… I’ve never seen a border officer laugh at anything until or since. Seriously–soup, coffee, and donuts! Brilliant!!”
anyhoo, this trip to TH was fuel for chasing Emily around on her roadbike..
Granted, they’re small steps, but she finally acquiesced and led me on her favorite local roadie loop..
We headed west along an enjoyable, mostly gently rolling route, until we reached Horseshoe Bay
with a commanding view of Howe Sound
The return leg of the ride was briefly interrupted by the next Matt Hoffman, or maybe even the next Glen Golradd, ripping it up at a local skate/bmx park
after a few quick autographs, we resumed our ride east to Deep Cove
with another brief stop in the village..
“one chocolate and one maple donut to go, please…”
mmmmmm donuts….
which we enjoyed overlooking the Cove
followed by two more brutal climbs home (less brutal than when climbed on the fixie)
a little work around the house, a few errands, a new crackberry
then, yay, a date with Emily… yay..
First, a surprisingly good Mexican restaurant in Gastown (where they have fixie sprints every month…hmmmmmm)
yes, the margs were good…
followed by an excellent sci-fi movie, The Moon, written and directed by Duncan Jones (think Zowie Bowie)
Four thumbs up (Em liked it too)… I highly recommend it….

Have you found maple leaf cookies yet? Like little oreos, but maple leaf shells and maple like filling?
Hey Guy Lafleur…post something already!
That’s Ryder Hesjedal to you, buddy!!!
