For a few years of my life, the Truth just hung on a hook
then I stuck it in a box for a few more years
but now that my Walt Works has become a piece of furniture in Emily’s condo, It is performing a necessary function, preventing her new Siren from being scratched by her fireplace
{dearest, I need a picture right here}
the Truth is out there…
with one of those new fangled X thingies hanging behind the rear skewer
and a little squishy thing above the cranks
finally, long forgotten memories returned in a trickle, not a flood
the bike with little wheels and all those extra gears still made it to the top where the usual view was obscured
the clouds rolled through
while the descent was fun, there are reasons I ride bikes without gears and shocks (at least rear shocks)
this mistake on the rear cable left me without a rear brake for the descents, and McGill is an out and back trail. park at the bottom, climb to the top, descend back down (unless you’re one of the shuttle monkeys in full gear and big bikes riding a completely buff trail that is magic on a rigid bikes)…
I must confess, as much as I love riding my single speed, I must love riding bikes more because I had a great time riding my Truth. It’s a shame I left it boxed for so long. I’m making plans to see where it takes me this weekend…
