After another week characterized by 14 hour days,
and more than a few messy mishaps
this morning, I rose slightly later than usual, down a few breakfast burritos, a couple cups of coffee, stuffed the pockets with calories, clipped the ipod to my sleeve, and wheeled my Trek out of the garage for a 200 km ride (sounds better than 120 miles). 90 minutes later, I felt a vibration in my pocket, and heard the distinctive, loud bray of my crackberry. A brief conversation later, and I knew my 200 km day was not going to be realized. Yesterday’s problem, a decanting centrifuge, had already been solved, I had to go to work.
However, instead of turning back immediately, a small act of defiance resulted in completion of the Round Mountain loop, with a quick dogleg out and back to the Y. Maybe 110 km total. Hard effort. Felt good, but I do need more miles (kilometers?)
the blooming has started in Kern County, seen during the ride…
and a few poppies..
Later, I reached the plant for this…
seems our new centrifuge doesn’t much care for glycerin and oil..
On the bright side, tomorrow I can slip the leash and get in some good singletrack in Kern Canyon, and maybe a little yoga and potluck…
gotta get some miles in.. the BCBR is coming up quickly, and my teammate is crazy fast.

Sweets, it’s not nice to lie. Your teammate is very fast to smile when she’s on her bike (or your Walt
) and that is very different from being fast on a bike. Hope you’re having a great day on dirt.
modesty…
you are fast on a bike and you’re fast to smile whether you’re on a bike or not. I suspect that you won’t have a need to ride my Walt again…
Hey, what happened to my comment?
Anyway, that looks like an awesome trail ride. The fields of flowers are incredible.
Nice.

Ed… it looks to me like you commented on a different post :0
Don’t worry, I’m not filtering or editing your comments, nor in any other way attempting to suppress your right to express yourself in ssportsmanland…
Nice pics, I remember seeing the wildflowers like that. But what’s that pale-looking pvssy milk in the pint glass?
Jim Beam – good to hear from you. Long time…. The colors are erupting everywhere, and examination of that pint glass will reveal that fine sea salt remaining on the rim of a glass containing gold patron and citron (?): ie. the remainder of a nice, strong margarita: just what the doctor ordered to keep the doctor from considering working from home that afternoon…
Well, alrighty then!
See you at SSWC this summer?
