“Hoping you had a great ride and had lots of fun and are drinking a beer with other crazy people who have also decided to ignore the triumphant engineering capabilities of mankind that are seen in the pinnacle of engineering known as a derailleur.” - waiting in my inbox when I finished the race…. my response.. I drank a lot of beer, some whiskey, met and rode with a lot of crazy people, without partaking in the decadence of deraillers…
Wednesday evening, and I still haven’t been able to sit down and process all of the little stories from the SSWC08, much less the pictures. Sitting here in LAX, however, I have the opportunity to perform a photo dump.. lots of pictures can be found here and still more can be found here…
Thursday morning.. at it again, this time with images…
Not long after arriving at Skyline Park, Tim appeared. After helping me dispose of my beers, we opened a bottle of strannies… mmmm.. whiskey
After getting lubed, I set out to explore the local trails, a pre-ride just didn’t seem appropriate. For additional excitement, I thought it would be a good idea to break the carbon lever on my Avid Ultimates. Rear brake of course.
On the cheap brake replacement..
My neighbors at the campground were the crew from Durango.
in short, an incredible event with an awesome group of racers. Racers that have as muhc fun off the bike as on the bike. Like-minded racers that eschew the pinnacle of engineering accomplishments. Racers that carbo load with beer instead of pasta. That hydrate with beer instead of water. Whose idea of a recovery drink is more beer..
Yumi, thank you for taking the pictures, and capturing so much of the day. It was awesome hanging with you and your family..

I’m glad to see some of the pics came out. I really had fun with your camera. I can’t believe you posted the family finger picture! ^_^
nice! I just rode my ss today for the first time in a while…
Yumi.. thanks for all the pix, let me know if you want any, or all, and how I should get them to you. I’m possibly come down (up) to Idylwild the weekend of the 20th. You should also know not to leave pictures (like the family finger picture) on someone else’s camera if you don’t want it posted (without very explicit instructions). It is a classic picture
Carrie, yeah, I haven’t ridden mine nearly enough. zero rides in the month of July. shudder
You know, I didn’t even know that pic was on there! My son must of taken it (seeing he’s the only one not in the picture…) At least I don’t have a pic of my butt in my underwear, ha ha. Don’t worry about making me a disk, I can just download pics from your online album. But thanks for asking.
Great to meet another member of the BWR group in spite of your tendency to wear tighty-whities while riding your bike (you perv)! Some great photos there as well. Still haven’t gotten the time to do a write-up.
