I’m off to Nuevo Mexico and then Colorado, but alas, no riding to be done.
The Chinese Valentines Day falls on the 7th day of the 7th Lunar month of the Chinese Calendar and this year that day is August 19th. Dong Mei Li (CU Chem E PhD) is marrying John Oakey (CSM Chem E PhD alumnus) on Sunday on Flagstaff Mountain in Boulder, CO, so I’m out for a needed rendezvous with Carrie and Ariana in Los Alamos, and then a quick trip up to Boulder to share this moment with a great friend..
Oakey and DongMei met at the NAMS meeting in Jackson Hole, WY, surprisingly enough, Oakey wasn’t presenting at the conference, and he wasn’t working with membranes.. But, I coerced him into joining me for a few days of backcountrying in Yellowstone.. On the final night of the conference, more than a few of us worked our way to the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar….
Oakey and Dong Mei strutted their stuff…

and had a few drinks…

As unbelievable as it may seem, in WY, Oakey found his treasure at the end of the rainbow

Let me know if you need to pick any whiskey up =)
I still have lots of whiskey left. I have yet to find riders that appreciate rewarding their efforts out here in CA. They’re all in CO and NM. my stash would’ve been depleted long ago back there.
Wanna trade some of that whiskey for some beer? I have large quantities at my disposal of Santa Fe’s finest…..
