The Longest Day

The Northern Solstice (or summer solstice for the northern hemisphere, or the June solstice is here). Here in Bako, this morning’s sunrise was at 5:41 and sunset will be 20:14. 14:33 of sunlight. It was clear and cool this morning during the sunrise, but I suspect that sunset will be warm and hazy.. It’s Bako..

Enjoy the daylight while you can, with the solstice falling on a Thursday, I already knew that the crew back in Los Alamos would pick out a special ride tonight, and with Joe’s ribbing in the Badlands post, I know they’re riding from Camp May. A beautiful place to watch the sunset (except that they’re all old and they’ll be home long before sunset :D ).. They’ll also be wishing for a sip of my rare edition of Stranahan’s (thanks again, Dave), but you can’t have it neener neener neener..

Don’t forget to check in on everyone doing the Great Divide Race (Go Dave!!, err, go everyone!! but go Dave!!) , I’m sure that they’ll appreciate a few extra minutes of sunlight.. The updates can be viewed here.

I’ve been getting up at 4:30am, it starts getting light and the birds are singing by then. Makes for a sweet ride commute in the a.m.

GDR is fantastic isn’t it. What an incredible race and what incredible racers. I hope Dave’s foot heals up.

Enjoy the heat, we are :-)
