rockin’the borough

Quick postwork jaunt today on the SS. I need to get it on trails more often, I think that this is only my third mtb ride since Moab, and it showed. My climbing was fine, but my descending was horrible. Couldn’t get off the brakes (which still need some love)..

Anyway, I met a few guys from mtbr at the Chatfield/Colorado Trail/Roxborough Loop parking lot. After a few days of excessive winds, including this morning, it was a nice evening. The wind had died down, the temperature was in the upper forties, and the sky was pretty blue, with a few little fluffy clouds (Burton: “What were the skies like when you were young?” Jones: “They went on forever –)..

Tony smiles to the top of the first climb..

Mark was ready when the trail started to descend.

But the speed of the descent became a liability when his front wheel was drawn to the only rock in a stream crossing

Needless to say, the water was cold!!

consists of a 6 miles dirt road entrance (slight climb) 5 miles of ST, and then a 6 miles of dirt road (slight descent), where Tony showed me that bikes with gears can be faster at times ..

totals:

17.54 miles

1637 ft vertical..

did I mention that it has been windy of late? MickeyDees’ sign and puny brick foundation didn’t have a chance

My friend Tim , single speeder to the umpteenth power, likes to finish his blog entries by sharing what he’s been listening to on his Ipod, so I thought that I’d do something similar, at least for today..

NIN is releasing a new album next week, but if you go to Year Zero, you can listen to the entire album via streaming. Excellent album, Trent has made his vocals a prominent part of his music again. Check it out..

If the snow doesn’t cause any problems (yes, it is going to snow, again, a lot), I get to see Carrie and Ariana again in 47 hours…

  • Did you get a GPS/heartrate thingy? Which one?
    Do you like it?

  • ssportsm

hey tarik.. i didn’t know that you knew Doug.. i have a 60 csx, no heartrate, but i didn’t want a heartrate monitor. that would be too much like training..

  • The blogosphere confounds me, I don’t remember that I know Doug. There are a couple bloggers in TN who also know me, but I have no recollection meeting. I must be getting old…

I really want to make heart rate explosion vs. altitude charts as I ride and race as well as mapping out the profile on some rides here and about. I probably will order one soon…
