Carrie got a new toy, which I assembled last night…

For the build, we made the leap and we selected the new Sram Force groupo with a little carbon thrown in here and there to complete the kit..

the wrench admires his handiwork

with some American Classc wheels to complete the package

and this morning, a nice ride around the loop..

The compact cranks seem to do their magic

Build synopsis..
The Force components seem well thought our, are very aesthetically pleasing, and seem to wrk great. Carrie seemed comfortable with the new shifting motion within minutes of riding.
Putting it all together, I found the clamp bolt on the shifter/brake levers to be very incovenient to work with. I am also miffed that the self extracting shell on the right crank requires a 16mm allen to remove it from the crank. There aren’t any of those in my toolbox (yet). You probably don;t really need it, but I prefer to visually align the splines on a crank before tightening..
Ridewise, everything seemed to work well, I neglected to competently tighten the seatpost/saddle bolt, and didn’t carry a 6 with me on the ride, so we had to return home, pick up another allen andd hit the road again. Beyond that, just a few fit tweaks, and another check-out ride tomorrow morning in SF with the Pedal Queens
Carrie–since you don’t have a blog, I have to comment on Scott’s!
Sweet new bike! I was wondering when it would come in and we’d see pics posted. I’m really curious to know how you like the Sram Force groupo. You’re gonna be one scary chica next season on that road bike!!
AWESOME ride – I like it! Quite the American theme there too – well at least US companies. I ride the AC sprint 350s and love them – so I’ll be curious about those Mags wheels. Congrats!
Jeni, she wasted no time having it built
Helps to know the wrench, and to supply him with cold brews as he works.. She really likes the force group. It’s a well-thought out group, the levertops are a little wider than the shimanos (not as wide as campy though), so they’re very comfortable, the’re a little shorter thatn shimano, whcih seems to really help a lot with smaller hands. She adapted to the new shift motion within minutes of her first ride. and it’s so pretty….
Matt, the Mags are sick light, and she doesn’t have any (or hasn’t had any) problems with crosswinds, so she’s digging them. Gotta get her some more appropriate training wheels for the NM winter, gravel and rocks, SF glass rides though..
I’ll definitely check out the Force group, sounds interesting!
