Took the road bike out in the morning, the preferred time to ride lately, before the temperatures climb into the 90’s… The goal was a leisurely ride (with janes addiction’s strays on the Ipod) around to Bandelier. Standard stuff… Well, by the time I reached the back gate, I knew that I wasn’t going to bandelier, or more correctly, not going to the main entrance at Bandelier. I had no snap in the legs, so the climbs were just spinning in my 39×25 with no power…
Took the morning off from riding to watch the tour! what a day, l’Alpe d’Huez, always a classic stage, and today was no exception. Landis threw down the heat today, and watched everyone else fall by the wayside. Back in Yellow, he’s looking strong, but his team is looking suspect. It was great watching Merckx turn himself inside out to help Landis, but is one rider enough to help him hang on? Pereiro held on strong, looked pretty good for a non-climber…
Tonight was the Tuesday Tuffrider ride, so in my present condition, I opted to ride the Truth, but it didn’t help much. We rode the Nailtrail/Pajarito Canyon loop and the climbs still hurt. But even worse, the descents hurt. I crashed 3 times, all of them during turns in the descent. Never washed out, just kept stacking into the turns. I missed my singlespeed on the way down…
