No one told Landis that losing 8 minutes in the Alps means that your tour hopes are over!
He attacked early today, and kept attacking, and kept attacking. At one point (with 40km to go) he was back in yellow, but once the other contenders picked up the pace on the final climb, he lost some time, but moved back up the standings to 3rd overall!!! Just 30 seconds behind the yellow jersey, Pereiro (another revelation in this year’s tour)
Landis interview quote “After yesterday’s stage, I had to do something, because yesterday was a disaster….. I’m telling you man, I want to win the whole race, not a stage…..30 seconds behind the lead..I’ll have to win another stage, but I think that I can do it!”
and he learned his lesson from yesterday, where he dehydrated. Today, the Phonak car stayed at this side for most of the day, continuously handing him water bottles. He usually kept one in his hand, and repeatedly doused himself..
With Lance gone, the tour is back on, and is exciting again. Saturday’s time trial promises to be an epic day, which should decide Sunday’s podium…
how did the 1st ITT settle out? Landis beat Sastre (whom he now trails by 18 seconds ) by 70 seconds (and Landis had a mechanical problem) and he beat Pereiro (30 seconds up) by 1:40….
Ummmm….I am just too friggin late to the party. So I’m over at Wily’s Blog and I see the report by Fred M and he mentions this blog by Scott and Carrie from NM. Hey I know a Scott and Carrie from NM.
Didn’t know you had one of these and thanks for linking mine amigo. I didn’t even know you had found mine.
Anyway back to the topic….Landis did kick some tail, eh?
you’re never too friggin late… started this up as something to do with all the pictures that I take, and thought I’d try to throw in a few comments as well…
Floyd was unreal. It’s amazing that they (CSC and T-Mobile) let it happen, but either they couldn’t do anything about it, or they just didn’t think that he’d be able to pull it off. And now they’re fighting for second..behind an American…again….
